Long Term Care Ombudsman advocates for excellence in long-term services and supports wherever consumers live.
The Long Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) advocates for long term care consumers. Since 1977, LTCO has served as a "voice" for residents of nursing homes, residential and adult care facilities, and consumers of home care services. LTCO: * Responds to and resolves complaints, such as inadequate care, privacy issues, choices in daily life, and admission and discharge problems; * Represents the consumer's perspective in legislative and policy issues; * Provides selection assistance for those who need long term care; * Provides information relating to Medicaid and Medicare; * Educates residents, families and staff about residents rights; and * Provides information regarding aging issues.
