ORGANIZATION: Forterra

Do you have a good eye? Do you feel comfortable taking photos of people in action? Do you have your own camera?

If so, we need your help! We are in need of some volunteer photographers to help document one of our biggest days of volunteering on the Duwamish River! Forterra will be hosting an event in Tukwila as a part of the annual Duwamish Alive celebration where hundreds of volunteers come out for the day to help restore the habitat along this critical watershed. At our site, volunteers will be focused on planting native trees and shrubs.

We will need to document this momentous day and would like photographers there to take photos of volunteers in action and having a good time. This is a great way to get out with fellow volunteers and to see them in action!

If you are interested in taking photos, please contact me directly at nmarcotte@forterra.org. Thank you!

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
