Do you know what harmful contaminants are in your water? How it gets there? What effect it has on your families and environment? Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is the one looking for answers.

STW(tm) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water; and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.


Our volunteers are diverse professionals from all over the world bringing their knowledge and experience to STW because we care deeply about our communities and water resources. STW(tm) is currently looking for a Technology Project Leader: Webmaster to join a team of Webmasters working to have our website running efficiently and reliably. Projects range from finding functional CMS improvements, to the core of it or via modules or plugins, web systems projects using local web stacks to graduate to a web server, to planning and tracking of a Disaster Recovery Plan.


Project Leaders are expected to put in a minimum of 8 hours per week and be responsive to emails within three (3) calendar days.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage on average 4-6 volunteers within the Webmaster Team, holding them accountable for their work

  • Plan and conduct monthly team meeting, including sending agenda, taking meeting minutes, and follow up.

  • Provide monthly report of your team’s progress to the President and Vice President.

  • Attend monthly Technology meeting.

  • Keep PWR minimum on a weekly basis

  • Complete the PWR audit for the Associate Level each month

  • Report to Associate Director for the given project team

  • Manage and lead projects spawned by webmaster tasks including, but not limited to:

    • Technical support on web based systems and tools used by the organization

    • Ticket solving involving CMS functionality

    • Ticket solving involving Social Networks integration with CMS

    • Ticket solving involving other web systems supported by the Technology Group

    • Components, modules, plugins or addons updates for Content Managers and other web systems

    • Minor updates for base or core systems.

    • Web systems backups

  • Manage and lead projects including, but not limited to:

    • Mayor updates for base or core systems

    • Web systems migrations and restores

    • Research and deployment of new components, modules, plugins or addons for Content Managers and other web systems

    • Research and deployment of new web systems

    • Knowledge documentation projects

    • User manual and training projects

    • Give feedback on process creation and modification

Experience/Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.

  • Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.

  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department.

  • Experience as Project Manager in the Information Technology field

  • Familiarized with IT best practices

  • Familiarized with Free and Open Source Software

  • Familiarized with Web Technologies

  • Familiarized with projects related to CMS such as Typo3, Drupal, Joomla or WordPress. Experience a plus.

  • Familiarized with projects related to web systems like ERP, BPM, LMS, etc. Experience a plus.

  • Should proactively look for any web technology that can be improved as well as tasks that can be done. Ability to share knowledge and to openly give feedback.
