Build a stronger community by educating local students about work readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship!

Volunteers are needed to teach JA programs at the following schools in Akron:

Case Elementary School: Grade 1 JA Our Families Program

Case Elementary School: Grde 2 JA Our Community Program

Firestone Park Elemenatary School: 3rd Grade JA Our City Program

Firestone Park Elementary School: 4th Grade JA Our Region Program

Firestone Park Elementary School: 5th Grade JA Our Nation Program

Hatton CLC: Grade 2 JA Our Community Program

Voris CLC: Grade K JA Ourselves Program

Using lesson plans and materials provided by Junior Achievement, volunteers will work, in partnership with a classroom teacher, to teach five fun, hands-on 30-45 minute long activities. You would be able to schedule your class visits directly with the classroom teacher between now and the end of May.

JA volunteers can be community members, business associates, retirees, college students and/or parents and are able to choose a school, grade level and JA program to work with.

Training will be provided. Individual and group opportunities are available. JA programs take place throughout the school year, during school hours. Volunteers will be able coordinate their visits to the classroom directly with their teacher partner.

Our list of volunteer opportunities changes daily so check back often. JA volunteers need to enjoy interacting with young people and feel comfortable in speaking in front of a group of students. Volunteers must provide their own transportation. A JA program kit including lesson plans and all materials needed will be provided during the volunteer training meeting.
