Mission Statement

CHANGING THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed. The inspiration piece comes from community volunteers who not only deliver our lessons, but share their experience. In the process, these volunteers serve as role models helping to positively impact young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as critical life skills. Preparation involves our proven lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership.

Description

Junior Achievement (JA) is the world's largest and fastest-growing organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in the global economy. Volunteers, educators, and donors make this possible!

Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio is educating students throughout Ashland, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Knox, Marion, Medina, Morrow, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, Richland, Wayne and Wyandot counties.

Through a dedicated volunteer network, JA provides programs for students in grades K-12 educating them about:

Entrepreneurship Workforce Readiness Financial Literacy

JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action, and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

In my senior year of high school, I was a member of the Alliance Chapter of Junior Achievement. I found it rewarding and a place to share friendship with others my age. This was an after school activity in 1973-1974.
