Best Friends Animal Society - Utah

This is a unique opportunity to volunteer at a veterinary clinic! Our two Low-cost Spay/Neuter and Vaccination Clinics, in Orem and coming soon to Ogden, operate to help reduce the population of unwanted pets and keep all pets healthy with vaccinations, dentals, deworming, and more. As a volunteer, you can:

  • Draw up vaccines
  • Clean surgical instruments
  • Prepare spay/neuter instrument packs
  • Discuss post-surgical care with owners at pick-up
  • Clean and prepare animal areas
We do request that volunteers commit to 6 hours of volunteering per month for 6 months, but those 6 hours may be done in any of our programs. See our listing for General Volunteer to learn about more opportunities.

Mission Statement

The mission of Best Friends is to end the killing in America's animal shelters and create a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. We do this by building community programs and partnerships all across the nation. We believe that by working together we can Save Them All.

Description

Best Friends Animal Society in Utah works collaboratively with animal rescue groups, city shelters and passionate individuals who are all dedicated to the mission of making Utah a no-kill state. The Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Sugarhouse provides adoptions, animal fostering opportunities, and serves as a base of operations for our community cat and shelter support programs. Volunteers help us achieve our goals in many ways, including fostering animals in their own homes, distributing food in our Pet Food Pantry, keeping our center clean and healthy for the animals, spreading our message to the community at outreach events, and driving animals to where they need to go.

Best Friends Animal Society is a nationwide leader in the No-Kill movement. Founded on the idea that no animals should have to die in shelters while resources exist to help them, our organization began with the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT, the world's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Our focus on a better world through kindness to animals has led to a variety of programs, including efforts to end breed-discriminatory legislation and unethical "puppy-mill" breeding operations, advocacy of Trap-Neuter-Return programs for community cats, and rescue transports to help animals in overcrowded shelters find homes. We believe that together we can Save Them All!
