Be a friend to a newly resettled refugee! Help newly resettled refugees learn about the Tucson community, discuss American culture/customs, and answer questions. Your role will be to help facilitate the adjustment of newly arrived refugee individuals and/or families.

Duties might include helping someone learn to navigate public transit, getting a family set up with library cards or showing new arrivals the bank or grocery store.

Volunteer must be able to:

-Work independently

-Address client needs in an English-limited environment

-Patiently use drawings and gestures to communicate

-Work with vulnerable populations

Volunteers will receive a community orientation and a volunteer orientation.

2-3 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Engagement at Refugee Focus Tucson and out in the community.
