The National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) is looking for someone passionate about communications and making a difference. NAAHP is seeking a new member for our communications team to serve as Communications Assistant/Intern. The ideal candidate brings organizational skills, discernment, flexibility, and a passion for NAAHP’s mission. This entry level position offers an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking to get started in a career in communication, public relations, and media. The Communications Assistant/Intern assists with the development and execution of NAAHP’s communications plan. As an entry level communications team member you will play a key role within the Communications Department with its external and internal communication efforts including all press relations efforts. Candidate will have the opportunity to help coordinate communication campaigns and oversee ongoing public relations and media efforts and or strategies developed by the Communications Department. The Communications Assistant/Intern reports to Director of Communications and or Communications Manager.
Responsibilities:
Assists with the production, review and distribution of NAAHP communications documents and or materials
Assists with coordination of media interviews, speaking engagements, appointments, communication calls and or other assignments
Maintains and expands communications and media contact database for NAAHP
Helps track and prioritize communications items requiring follow-up
Assists communication department meet established deadlines
Maintains and communicates with NAAHP staff on communications team efforts
May perform light technical projects as needed, such as sending press releases, email blasts or updating the website
Helps implements strategic communications programs to achieve significant increases in NAAHP awareness with external audiences
Helps identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and partners
Maintains professional standards in NAAHP relationships
Assists with the communication needs of existing NAAHP relationships/partners/staff
Completes tasks as assigned by Communication Manager or Director of Communications
Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communications skills a must
Exceptional communication/networking skills
Proven organizational skills
Fast and effective decision-making abilities
Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
Knowledge of and ability to use social media desirable
Enthusiastic and cooperative team member

Founded in 2011, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established by diverse group of forward-thinking industry experts, youth leaders, faculty, public and nonprofit sector professionals from Haiti and its global diaspora. NAAHP is focused on connecting a global community of peers with career advancement resources as well as fostering transformative relationships between NAAHP members and committed stakeholders to strengthen Haiti through philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.
