Irie Zulu is seeking an individual that is willing to gain an educational, meanginful, and hands-on experience while assisting in the development of creating awareness and marketing of Irie Zulu. This internship is intended to be educational, inspirational, and purposeful.
Internship Tasks: * Assist in writing press releases * Assist in developing social media content (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.) * Establish presence on LinkedIn and begin engaging influencers * Copy editing * Assist with special events
Irie Zulu is a seamless fusion of traditional African and Jamaican cuisines made in the beautiful Milwaukee, Wisconsin community using the best seasonal ingredients that we can possibly find.
Irie Zulu was dreamt up by owner and Maitresse de Cuisine Yollande Deacon, who also owns and operates Afro Fusion Cuisine brands. 15 years ago, when Yollande moved from her native village in West Africa to Milwaukee, she saw an opportunity to share with her new community an honest experience of her African culture. Yollande longed to tell the story of her ancestors and native African cookery in an authentic way. Once in Milwaukee, Yollande married into a Jamaican family deeply in touch with traditional Jamaican values which for the most part are rooted in Africa. The fusion of Irie ( Cool Jamaican culture) and Zulu ( Soulful and Vibrant African heritage) was born as a concept in 2006 and brought to life in October 2015.
Our Vision is simple: Be your reference and trusted resource for all things African and Jamaican foods.

Our impact in Milwaukee is widespread, from teaching thousands of kids to swim each year to being one of the only safe spaces open seven-days-a-week in the neighborhoods we serve to helping to reduce the diabetes epidemic through proven, targeted programs. We also believe that lasting personal and social change happens in the places where our members live, work and play. That’s why in addition to our center-based programming, we are committed to being vocal advocates for healthy families and partnering with others to improve the greater good in Milwaukee beyond our four walls.
