Mission Statement

For more than 150 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee has been strengthening the foundations of our communities. We've been putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

At the Y, our mission is centered on balance. We encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, sports, philanthropy and other shared interests. I n the process, we build relationships within families, between neighbors and around the world.

The vision of the Milwaukee Y is a stronger, healthier Milwaukee where families of all incomes and backgrounds truly thrive. Our impact in Milwaukee is widespread, from teaching thousands of kids to swim each year to being one of the only safe spaces open seven-days-a-week in the neighborhoods we serve to helping to reduce the diabetes epidemic through proven, targeted programs. We also believe that lasting personal and social change happens in the places where our members live, work and play. That’s why in addition to our center-based programming, we are committed to being vocal advocates for healthy families and partnering with others to improve the greater good in Milwaukee beyond our four walls.

I used to volunteer in India but since I came here to the US, I was not able make time for this interest of mine. Eventually I did; updated my volunteermatch profile last week and got connected to interns from Milwaukee Brewers for this. They were super prompt in communication and today, was a great day of volunteering! Many thanks for Melissa, Stephanie and Ryan (actually educated me about baseball enough that in the 7th inning I was actually praying like a true Brewer fan that the Cardinals player on the 3rd base doesnt get to the homeplate) for making me so comfortable and making my experience super fun. I would volunteer for this group not only again but whenever they ask me to! I think this is one of the dream feedbacks of folks who created volunteermatch and I must say, you guys have earned it! Awesome job guys. Thanks again!
