Caritas is looking for a volunteer able to teach staff basic Spanish.
Caritas of Austin staff are often bilingual, but perhaps not in Spanish, maybe in another language. There is growing interest from staff to learn basic Spanish to better welcome Spanish speakers.
Caritas of Austin serves clients from different backgrounds and countries, with a wide variety of languages spoken by staff and clients. Caritas serves Spanish speaking clients whom may be from the local area or from different international countries such as Cuba.
Caritas would like someone able to commit to teaching a class weekly for 4-6 months. Class could be about an hour. Class would be taught downtown at Caritas- 611 Neches in one of our classrooms. There would be about 5-15 interested students.
Interested volunteers would have to create a class curriculum/materials but all other teaching supplies could be found at Caritas. The volunteer could choose a time that best worked for him/her- most staff would be more available in the afternoons.
