The Friends of the Multnomah County Library is a nonprofit organization with a mission to advocate for and support our outstanding public library. We provide supplemental funding for library programs and services and sponsor activities that engage people who value our library. We are accepting applications for new members to join our Board of Directors. No previous board service is required.

Board Commitment

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer-driven organization with board members taking an active role in marketing, membership, and event planning activities. Board commitment requires attendance at quarterly evening meetings (currently virtual with the possibility of in-person meetings in the future) and participation in one or more of our standing committees. Active membership in Friends is required of board members, but there is no additional fundraising or financial obligation. Enthusiasm and the ability to work well as a member of a team are key assets for this work.

We pride ourselves on the diversity of Multnomah County and are continuously seeking to recruit individuals who reflect this diversity. Friends of the Library welcomes candidates who are excited to help inspire creativity and fresh thinking and to help our organization remain relevant in a changing world.
