Mission Statement

The Friends of the Multnomah County Library advocate for and support our outstanding public library. We are committed to raising the standard of excellence of our library by funding programs and services beyond what is allocated in the operating budget. We also sponsor activities which bring together people who value libraries.

The Friends conduct the biggest book sales in Oregon each Spring and Fall. The Friends also run the Friends Library Store in the lobby of the Central Library. Merchandise includes used books donated by the community as well as original art and items which appeal to library lovers. We also sell donated books in our Amazon store.

The money raised by FOL funds the Libraries Yes! PAC, a political action committee dedicated to securing public funding for libraries. In addition, FOL provides grants for children's programs, adult literacy, the Pageturners, author visits, library staff enrichment, and management planning.

They made everything simple. It was a great team and they let me know how much my help was appreciated. It was a fun event, and I'd most certainly volunteer again.
