Special Events Intern
Position Summary
This internship will provide a hands-on opportunity to develop a working knowledge of development and special event/fundraising efforts in a Museum/non-profit setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- · Excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills
- · Proficiency in basic word processing and spreadsheet applications (Word and Excel)
- · Must demonstrate initiative and have a high level of energy and enthusiasm
- · Demonstrated ability to produce quality work in a close team environment
- · Willingness to work flexible hours in response to program needs
Key Responsibilities:
- · Assisting the Special Events Coordinator with all aspects of the Museum’s fundraising events, which include: Children’s World’s Fair(March), CHAIRish the Children (August), and Festival of Trees (December).
- · Processing ticket purchases, sending acknowledgement letters, and organizing will call lists for the event.
- · Recruiting and confirming volunteers for the event. Serving as the point of contact for answering any questions and scheduling volunteers for the day of the event.
- · Making follow-up phone calls and sending letters to sponsors, performers, volunteers, as well as organizing and inputting all incoming volunteer and entertainment forms.
- · Offering creativity and resourcefulness when helping to organize events and perform other duties as assigned.
Hours: Flexible (minimum of 15 hours per week). Days and hours to be mutually agreed upon between the intern and LCM.

Description
The Louisiana Children's Museum was founded in 1986. The museum was located in the Warehouse District until 2019, when we opened our new 8.5 acre location in City Park! Our gallery spaces focus on Literacy, Environment, Arts & Culture, and Health & Wellness. Louisiana Children's Museum promotes hands-on, participatory learning for children ages birth to 8 years. Encouraging discovery through observation, inquiry, creative construction, role-playing, problem-solving, and free-play, the Museum motivates children to develop their cognitive, physical and social skills while enjoying fruitful interaction with adults and peers.
Do you like fun and the sound of laughter? How about helping kids discover their immense potential? Louisiana Children's Museum welcomes volunteers for a wide range of roles including assisting with learning and play experiences our galleries, education programs, special events, admin, maintenance and other roles! We currently have youth (15+) and adult volunteer opportunities.
