ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army San Diego Regional Office

Support The El Cajon Corps Community Center by teaching English to members of the neighborhood who are learning English as a second language!


Qualifications and requirements for this position:

  • Must be able to commit to one hour a week from 12-1 pm on Thursdays, for three months or more
  • Bilingual in English and Arabic preferred, but not required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries as required and appropriate
  • Have strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and participants
  • Prior teaching experience NOT required

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare a syllabus and daily lesson plans for each class, based on student needs
  • Instruct assigned English language class for a minimum of a three month period
  • Counsel and support students in developing and accomplishing individual learning goals, as needed
  • Document student attendance, progress, and areas of need
