Would you like to help senior residents in affordable housing meet their nutritional needs? Are you skilled at facilitating a large group of people in a fast-paced setting? This may be a job for you!
About the volunteer position: The time requirement for the Giveaway would be 1.5 hours per week, from 1:45pm to 3:15pm on Wednesdays. The volunteer would need to monitor the event, and call apartment numbers from a schedule that will be provided. We have a head-set microphone for the volunteer to use if they are soft-spoken. Throughout the event, the volunteer would need to feel comfortable sitting at a "checkout" station (like at Costco) and looking to make sure residents are taking no more than their portion of items. The program has a rules system and a flow which the volunteer will help maintain.

SAHA is a non-profit provider of homes and services to low-income families, seniors, and special needs populations in the Bay Area. Part of our core mission is to foster community and personal enrichment among our residents through programming that addresses a range of needs - professional development, civic engagement, active recreation, creative expression, and more. SAHA’s resident services are greatly enhanced through the work of community volunteers, whom we invite to demonstrate compassion, ingenuity, teaching and leadership skills in expanding the availability of resources for the people we serve.

Description
The purpose of the SAHA's Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of living and promote health and well-being for Satellite Housing's residents. Volunteers will help foster community by facilitating activities for the residents, such as exercise groups, art classes, discussion groups, providing health and wellness information, leading or participating in games, assisting with special events, etc. The residents really appreciate the effort that is put forth by the volunteers, and look forward to the weekly interactions.
