Past & Present Three Gaits Board of Directors
Some past & present Three Gaits board of directors members have a little horsey time with one of Three Gaits equine partners.

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall operations involved with the therapeutic horsemanship program including establishing policies, increasing community awareness, and fundraising. We are looking for board members who believe in our mission and are willing to be active in moving Three Gaits forward. This is both a challenging and exciting time for Three Gaits. Demand for our services continues to grow, we have great volunteer support and we’re becoming stronger financially. But we want to manage the growth effectively as we continue our tradition of providing high quality services for our clients. While we do ask that our board members play an active role, we also want to develop a supportive environment that works as a team. We hope to offer an opportunity for our members to learn and grow with the organization. Three Gaits mission statement is:

" Three Gaits, Inc., is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to provide equine-assisted activities and therapies that enhance the lives of people with physical, emotional, and/or intellectual challenges. ". Three Gaits strives to serve all interested individuals within Dane County Wisconsin and the surrounding area.

Each Board member is expected to contribute to the organization in the following areas:

TIME: Be an active participant representing Three Gaits at board meetings and various events. Board meetings are scheduled six-ten times a year starting in January and concluding in December. Meetings are currently held at People's United Methodist Church in Oregon on the third Tuesday of the month. Board terms are three years in length, with a maximum of three consecutive terms.

Committee meetings are held as determined by the Chair based on the event and needs.

TALENT: Contribute credibility, visibility, expertise and/or referrals to Three Gaits by virtue of one’s position in the community or profession.

Annually, a list of planning events will be distributed to the board and committee members. In addition to events hosted by Three Gaits, occasionally a third party will host events to benefit Three Gaits.

TREASURE: Each Board member is expected to generate income for the program. This can be accomplished by giving personal donations, in kind donations, soliciting donations from individuals or securing corporate sponsorship, and supporting fund raising events.

Board members are encouraged to become a member of PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Riding International) for educational and informative benefits.

All interested parties are encouraged to inquire. Skill sets listed are desired but not required--we aim to have a well-rounded board of directors with many skills & talents, but mostly those with a desire to support Three Gaits mission. Additional ongoing opportunities are available on our Strategic Planning committees; Partnerships, Programs, Facilities and Finance.

It is the policy of Three Gaits, Inc. to promote equal service and employment opportunities for all employees, clients, board members and applicants to the agency. Equal service and employment opportunity means the treatment of those categories of people mentioned above without regard to their age, race, sex, creed, or religion, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, color, disability, ancestry or political affiliation.
