Our volunteer medical air transport (MAT) pilots fly a C206 or twin Seneca III throughout the Midwest in service of our patient clients. Flights are scheduled by our MAT coordinator as patient needs dictate.
Flights generally are withion a 500-mile radius of SUS (Spirit of StL Airport), although occasionally flights may extend beyond that range. Overnight stays may be necessary on occasion. Patient flight operations are conducted in pilot/co-pilot configuration; medical personnel on board if patient needs dictate. Flight needs may present any day and hours of the week.
Wings of Hope training and currency in our aircraft are on-going requirements for all our pilots.

Mission Statement
Changing and Saving Lives Through the Power of Aviation
Description
Wings of Hope was founded in 1962 and is the largest Humanitarian aviation charity in the world. Our intent is to save lives, improve the quality of lives, and bring hope to people where the utilization of aviation is vital to the accomplishment of these humanitarian endeavors. We have placed over 150 aircraft serving mankind in more than 40 countries.
We focus on what is needed in a region to help the less fortunate of our fellow man achieve an improved level of health care, education. and opportunity. Each region served has the work customized for their particular situation.
From our St. Louis area headquarters, we operate a free Medical Air Transport program that serves the central United States. This service carries children with various maladies and birth defects, even those that are not ambulatory, to and from health care. It also carries adults who have debilitating health issues. If needed and possible, we may arrange for the medical care necessary at participating health care providers.
St. Louis HQ volunteer hours generally 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
