The Youth Education Program is looking for volunteer tutors to work with young adults aged 16 to 24 years old, on standard high school subjects including math, language arts, science, and social studies.
When:
Mondays - Thursdays 9:00 am - 11:30 am. Come one day a week or more as your schedule allows.
What:
Since our students are preparing to earn their high school equivalency degrees, tutors are needed in the following areas:
- Language Arts (reading and writing)
- Math (basic arithmetic through algebra and geometry)
- Social Studies (history and civics)
- Science (life, earth, and physical sciences)
We are currently in need of tutors on the following days:
Monday:
2 Math/Science Tutors, 2 Reading/Writing/SS Tutors
Wednesday:
1 Math/Science Tutor
Thursday:
3 Math/Science Tutors, 1 Reading/Writing/SS Tutor

Description
The DLC provides direct individual and small group instruction in reading, writing, English language, and computer skills to adults and families seeking to improve their education and/or move toward economic self-suffiency. We partner with a number of social service, health, education, and workforce-related organizations and agencies to meet the diverse needs of the Durham community.
