Volunteers that help at a Gathering site are not only helping someone one-on-one with memory loss, the volunteer is also giving a day of respite to the caregiver of the person with memory loss. There are 10 Gathering sites around the Twin Cities, all supported by their local consortium of churches and Lyngblomsten. Gathering sites meet on Tuesdays from 10-3. Lead volunteers plan five hours of brain stimulating activities for a one on one volunteer and a participant. All volunteers are fully trained by Lyngblomsten staff and other volunteers. If you like to plan activities, you may want to volunteer as a Lead, or if you would like to show up and create a great friendship with just one person, you may want to volunteer as a one-on-one volunteer. Contact Peggy Cerrito firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about volunteering for The Gathering or check out www.lyngblomsten.org/community-services/gathering/ for more information about The Gathering.
