Job Title: Youth Program Coordinator
Job Type: Volunteer
Loaves, Fishes, & Computers (LFC) helps low-income families, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and non-profit organizations obtain dependable computers and inexpensive technical support. LFC is currently soliciting applications for the position of Youth Program Coordinator.
On September 2015, LFC formed a collaboration with Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE), called Innovation Technology Arts Pathway ( iTAP). MCOE’s Alternative Education Program is now teaching students at LFC 3 days/week in our training room in their high school core curriculum, and technology, in which each student then shadows an LFC volunteer for 1+ hour/day working on/building computers and helping in other general ways.
We are working on defining the program for these students to make it better than it already is.
Position Description : The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for training youth volunteers in all relevant LFC responsibilities and duties.
Location: Salinas
Salary : this is a volunteer position.
Responsibilities:
The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for providing training in LFC’s Administration, Equipment Processing and Quality Assurance procedures for youth ages 14-18
The Youth Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and evaluating programming, special events and services for youth enrolled in the iTap Program.
Monitor and encourage students’ academic and social progress by acting as a liaison to key teachers and staff at program site
Assist with the plans for integrating student efforts within the organization
Collaborate with staff, tutors, and other volunteers to develop and implement training plans.
Engage students in learning through well-organized one-on-one and group activities with volunteers
Maintain consistent, effective communication between all tutors (Volunteers)
Ensure safety and well-being of all students and volunteers.
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of related professional experience; experience working in youth development or in an educational setting is preferred.
CPR/First Aid Certification is required within six (6) months.
Experience working in a cross-culturally diverse environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work independently. Must be flexible, capable of working under pressure with deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Strong computer skills particularly in MS Office applications and experience with databases.
Must have reliable transportation and maintain valid driver’s license and insurance coverage
Must be able to attend weekend events as necessary.
Position Reports to: Executive Director and Programs and Operations Manager
Hours: Need two schedules covered:
Tuesday -Saturday
