Do you like to dance? Would you be willing to share that joy with others? We are looking for choreographers to craft fun, creative dances for our plays.
Our theatre puts on 11 shows a year, each with casts of approximately 40-50 people. Most of the actors range between the ages of 8-17. Everyone who auditions gets a part, so we teach the choreography to a wide variety of abilities. It is important to us that everyone feels valued and is able to perform their dances.
As a Choreographer, you would attend about 2-3 rehearsals/week (for a total of 4-6 hours/week), working with the director to create dances that further the plot of the show and allow our participants meaningful moments on stage. The length of the commitment may be shorter and depends on which show you're choreographing. We often have one musical and a couple of shows with simple dances a season.
If you're interested in this, please contact us for details and we will try to tailor the position to your schedule, especially for those individuals who think they might like to make a long-term (more than one season) commitment to BYT.
A $300 stipend is available for professional choreographers.
Please contact us to learn more about how to get involved!
