Sow A Seed Community Foundation
The Bright Futures Mentoring Program provides weekly group and one-on-one mentoring programs with monthly outings for youth ages 11-18. The youth are provided with positive adult role models, life skills training, support and counseling via evidence-based workshops Outings consist of structured activities, such as college tours, cultural events, educational conferences, and other opportunities for participants to learn about being responsible and self- sufficient.

Sow A Seed Community Foundation is looking for mentors to volunteer with our youth in Tracy, CA and/or Stockton, CA.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM: The Bright Futures Youth Development Mentoring Program provides weekly one-on-one and group mentoring programs with monthly outings for youth ages 11-18. The youth are provided with positive adult role models, life skills training, and support via evidence-based workshops. Outings consist of structured activities, such as college tours, cultural events, educational conferences, and other opportunities for participants to learn about being responsible and self-sufficient.

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be able to volunteer 4 hours a month
  • Must be willing to commit to 1 year with your mentee
  • Must be able to attend a training
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Have a desire to work with youth ages 11-18
  • Have a desire to be a friend, advocate, and listener to your mentee with regards to personal, academic, and career matters
  • Have reliable transportation to travel to/ from sites of mentor/mentee activities
  • Participate in workshops, activities, and community events when possible
