We are looking for individuals 55 years of age or older, who are interested in helping elementary age children improve their reading skills through one-on-one and small group tutoring in your local elementary school.
You must be willing to serve at least 15 hours per week and have transportation.
If your household income is under $2,510 a month for a single household or $3,406 for a couple you can receive a monthly stipend for your service, mileage reimbursement and a free meal during your service hours.

Provide senior citizens with meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Description
Provide senior citizens 55 years and older with the opportunity to work with struggling children. Foster Grandparents work with children in Elementary Schools, Boys and Girls Clubs and other community organizations helping improve literacy skills. For their service the Foster Grandparent receives a tax free stipend. This stipend does not affect any other services the senior might already be using... such as low income housing, food stamps, Social Security..etc
