ORGANIZATION: Neighborhood Youth Association (NYA)

  • 12 people are interested

NYA is a non-profit after-school program that provides at-risk and low-income youth with targeted academic support, leadership development, and college readiness in Venice. All of our youth are high-acheiving, first-generation college students.

We are looking for an SAT tutor to help our Youth Leaders prepare for their standardized tests. Targeted SAT help will immensely improve our students' ability to attend college. We provide textbooks, but allow our tutors to design curriculum.

The incoming junior class consists of 4-6 students. In the past, we have done SAT tutoring on Tuesdays from 6-7 from September until their tests in March/April, but are flexible with day and time.

In the past two years of providing SAT tutoring, our students scores have increased dramatically. If you are good at math or english, are looking to contribute to an underserved community, or scored high on your own tests and want to teach others, let us know!
