Volunteer in Lake County and Support Survivors of Sexual Assault!
ZCenter is looking for Medical Advocates to support survivors of sexual assault in the emergency room (we serve all hospitals in Lake County).
Medical Advocates offer emotional support and resources on-site to the survivor and her/his loved ones.
Medical Advocates are present with the survivor throughout their time in the hospital. You will be a support before and after the medical exam and will provide resources for survivors, allowing them to be aware of all their options as they make informed decisions.
Our 40-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training will equip you with the tools and resources you need for this opportunity. We offer four trainings throughout the year. Our training covers:
- History of the Rape Crisis Movement
- Cultural Competency
- Components of Sexual Assault and Abuse
- Crisis Intervention
- Medical, Legal, and Support Line Advocacy
- Prevention Education & Community Outreach
ZCenter Medical Advocates respond to hospitals throughout Lake County and the schedule is flexible based upon your availability. Please contact Emily Cadwell at ecadwell@zcenter.org or 847-244-1187 x.115 to learn more.
