We are looking for motivated and creative energetic people who can join a small board of dedicated people. It is a perfect chance to build up your resume! We are needing people with expertise in these areas:

  • childcare
  • fundraising/development
  • board functioning
  • construction/building/planning
  • architecture

....... what is most important is love for kids and families.

There is no charge for joining the board, but members are often asked to do some volunteer some time outside of the monthly meeting. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month from 6:30-8:30 (or earlier). We are now meeting on Zoom remotely.

Trinity Child Development Center opened over 50 years ago in East Austin with the express purpose of reaching out to the neighborhood and meeting the needs of families. Right now that means that we protect a portion of our enrollment for children who are funded by workforce meaning that their families cannot afford to pay tuition. We also do fundraising so that we can support temporary situations where parents lose jobs and would have to drop out of childcare. We want to keep children in a safe, consistent environment.

The Covid-19 virus has caused many people to struggle with childcare. We have worked hard to stay open, even when the stay at home orders were in place. Our regular enrollment is 48, but at one point we were serving only 10 children of first responders. Now we are back to having full enrollment and a long waiting list. As the pandemic has continued there has been more and more need for safe, reliable childcare. At the same time finances have been stretched and all of our teachers and director are under continuing stress. We have instituted strict mask policies and teachers are working twice as hard keeping things clean while feeling concerned for themselves and their own families.

This year, although finances have been a challenge we have been helped greatly by PPP loans and assistance from the city. As time goes on we will need people who can help us with creative solutions with our budget. Grant writing and fundraisers have been important for keeping up with our goals. New ideas for fundraisers or experience in Grant Writing and ability to give time to it are fantastic!

If you are interested let us know and you can visit (with zoom) our next board meeting. If you are still interested after observing and asking questions you can come to a second board meeting and we will have a vote to confirm your addition to the board.

About Trinity Child Development Center

Location:

5801 Westminster Drive, Austin, TX 78723, US

Mission Statement

The mission of TCDC is to provide quality, affordable early care and education to children within our economically and ethnically diverse community. We strive to provide stability and support to the children in our care and to their families, so that together we can truly impact future generations

Description

Trinity Child Development Center has served the needs of low and moderate income families in Northeast Austin since 1964. TCDC is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. In October 2001, Trinity was accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In 2007, Trinity CDC became a partner of United Way Capital Area. At TCDC we understand the importance of the early years on children. When young children and their families participate in our programming the children develop into resilient, caring, creative, intelligent children and adults. We help children reach their full potential when their brains are at their most crucial point of development. We offer a safe place for children to express emotions, learn independence and develop problem solving skills. TCDC also supports parents by extending their community in ways that support them.
