ORGANIZATION: Access Youth Academy

Access Youth Academy, a 501(c)(3) youth enrichment program, partners with The Preuss School UCSD to serve 50 students from low-income communities in San Diego. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing the necessary supports to apply and graduate from a four year university. We accomplish this by empowering youth to excel through our program combining academic support, community service, and the sport of squash.

Access Youth Academy needs tutors on Wednesdays and Thursdays on Zoom! Typical hours will be from 1:40-2:45pm on Zoom and occasionally 'after school' between 3:15-4:00pm.

Our students range from 7th to 12th grade, so the level of Spanish knowledge is diverse (Spanish levels 1-4, AP Spanish). Becoming a tutor is a great way to get involved with the communities of San Diego and provide academic support for youth from low-income families.

To learn more about how to become a tutor, please contact Shelby Coopwood, Academic Coordinator, at shelby@accessyouthacademy.org |
