We are looking for volunteers and clubs who can make handmade bears for our Comfort Boxes. Comfort Boxes are distributed to newly bereaved children, with the help of their school Counselors. Inside are lots of wonderful comforting items, to let the child know that their community is thinking of them.
We are looking for people who can sew these simple bears, with the help of our easy patterns, sent via email. They are made of fleece, and are very easy to make, even kids can help! Recently, a Brownie troop made a bunch, and they were adorable!
We appreciate originality and creativity, and love imperfections. So, don't be afraid to give them a try! We need lots of bears, especially during the school year.
Because of the number of bear makers and a limited staff, we regret we are unable to pick up the bears in person, unless you are local to Wilkes-Barre. We would appreciate if you could mail the finished bears to us. Luckily they are very light and inexpensive to mail. We also ask that you provide the materials to create the bears. We supply the pattern, and ask you to gather the fleece or any type of fabric you may have, stuffing and sewing supplies. We really appreciate your help! And so do the kids! All of our services are provided at no cost to the grieving children and their families, and we are a 501c3 nonprofit public charity. Thank you very much for helping!
