Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
As a One Good Deed volunteer, you will make a life long and lasting difference in another persons life, gain an incredile and rewarding friendship, and you can do it in a couple of hours a month! You will be carefully matched with a senior who lives near where you live or work, who enjoys the same activities and has similar interests. You will be matched with the same individual, and will spend a few hours a month visiting with your new friend to build a bond and friendship and provide companionhip and support! One Good Deed volunteers have shopped for groceries, read mail to their visually impaired friends or taken their senior friend out for lunch, high tea, or a concert! Our fantastic volunteers help run errands, flip a matteress, plant flowers, play cards, or teach someone to email their grandchild!...
