We are in need of volunteers in our Children’s program at The Carying Place. We are a non-profit agency that helps currently employed homeless or near homeless families get back on their feet. Families receive housing and utilities for four months while they participate in weekly life skills sessions to teach budgeting and other financial management techniques. The Carying Place was founded in 1993 and has served 238 families to date. We have a 90% success rate, in that, at the end of the one year post graduation, families still remain self-sufficient.

While parents participate in weekly sessions, their children participate in our children’s group. Age appropriate activities are planned for the children each week. They play, have stories read to them, discuss relevant issues, and do arts and crafts projects. As a community service volunteer working in the Children’s Program, your responsibilities will be to assist the Children’s Program Coordinator in carrying out the planned activities. Program night is every Thursday and volunteers could attend any Thursday they would like from 7:00pm until 8:45pm.

Below is a list of the responsibilities for volunteers of each age group. If you would like to volunteer or have any further questions please don’t hesitate to call at (919)462-1800 or email us at info@thecaryingplace.org
