Namaste Hospice has our next Volunteer training on March 25th from 6-9pm and March 28th from 10am-2pm. We would love to have a few more people sign up!
Hospice provides a variety of options for volunteering. There are options to be involved directly with patients and families, and indirectly by doing clerical work in the office.
Our patient care and bereavement volunteers provide a variety of services to our patients and families. Some examples are:
q Respite for families or caregivers
q Yard work
q Manicure/pedicure, hand massage
q Companionship and support for patients, families and caregivers
q Help with errands
q Assistance arranging a natural support system
q Making designated contacts with survivors, every few months, for 13 months after the patient’s death
q Co-facilitating bereavement support groups (this requires extra training beyond the initial training)
Clerical volunteers fill a variety of needs at the hospice office. Some examples of clerical assistance are:
q Filing and copying
q Mailings
q Computer input
q Other miscellaneous clerical projects
Hospice patient care, bereavement, and clerical volunteers are supervised by the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator.
