ORGANIZATION: SKY'S THE LIMIT

Do you want to help design entrepreneurship curriculum and content to empower low-income young adults to launch their business ideas? We are adapting the Lean Startup methodology to be relevant and accessible to young adults who want to launch Main Street businesses. Your work will be improve underserved young entrepreneurs chances of business success!

This volunteer has the opportunity to define how we train and coach thousands of aspiring young entrepreneurs.

We are looking for someone who has already successfully designed experiential, project-based learning curriculum. We have a foundation of topics and curriculum, but need help turning it into highly structured and scaffolded projects, delivered through YBUSA's web app.

CONTEXT: Many of our young entrepreneurs are working on self-employment type business ideas, so the training needs to be relevant to any sector and applicable to this scale (i.e. the business idea will be work for one or two people as they take their product or service to market) - and our young entrepreneurs often have part-time employment to juggle, so the training is self-paced. The idea is that this training would be usable by our young entrepreneurs both on their own, and with the support of YBUSA's business coaches, mentors and advisors. We have a small budget for this project to facilitate development of this curriculum.

Please let us know if you are interested by contacting bo@ybusa.org or 510-379-8952

Thanks!

Description

Our skysthelimit.org platform connects our entrepreneurs with experienced volunteer business advisors & mentors to help them build their businesses.

Over 11 million low-income young adults across the country say they want to start a business, but lack the support and resources they need to do so. Ourmission is to prepare, launch and grow highly motivated young entrepreneurs who face barriers to business ownership. We do this through our "Pathway to Business Ownership" training, interest-free loans up to $10,000, and a network of experienced, volunteer business mentors and subject-matter experts.

We know that talent is distributed equally - but opportunity isn't. Our support levels the playing field for entrepreneurs ages 18 to 29, helping them create local businesses, jobs and new sources of income for themselves and their families while learning highly relevant business skills.

Our vision is that these young adult-led enterprises become a national model for job creation, equitable development and economic empowerment.

We're also known as Youth Business USA. We're a 501(c)3 public charity, EIN# 27-4333255.
