In addition to a team of skilled and compassionate people, including nurses, hospice physicians, medical social workers, aides, and spiritual care coordinators, volunteers are a crucial component in the continuum of care provided to patients, caregivers, and families.Volunteers are needed for direct patient involvement such as companionship and engagement and socialization. Reading, singing, playing cards or games and being a non-anxious presence can enhance and enrich the lives of those with life-limiting illnesses. Caregivers and families often need support as well.Won’t you consider giving a few hours a week or monthly to such a fulfilling and necessary cause?
