Hospice Community Care has been a part of your community for over ten years. In those ten years we have served many families with loved ones who are terminally-ill. The mission of Hospice Community Care is to provide dignified end-of-life care and quality services that allow our patients and their families and/or significant others to live life richly, deeply and meaningfully for as long as it may last, and to die with dignity in the setting of their choice.

To that end, Hospice Community Care seeks volunteers to carry out our mission. We are especially in need of volunteers who are skillful at playing soothing instruments such as the violin, acoustic guitar, harp, clarinet or flute. Our patients are terminally ill with a life expectancy of six months or less and music has been shown to be especially soothing for patients with Alzheimer's disease. As a musical volunteer, you would visit our patients in whatever setting the patient calls home, i.e., an assisted living facility, a nursing home or a private home to play at a patient's bedside and provide comfort for the patient. Hospice Community Care is located in Glen Allen, but our patients are throughout the Richmond/Tri-Cities area. Chances are we have a patient very close to where you live, work or attend school.

To qualify as a musical volunteer, you will need to undergo TB testing, a background check and volunteer training, which are all provided by Hospice Community Care. Does this sound like an opportunity that interests you? Please call Cynthia Anderson, Volunteer Coordinator at 1-800-409-9094 or send an email to cvereen@hospicecommunity.com. You can also respond within this ad through Volunteer Match. You must be 18 years of age to participate.

Hospice Community Care has become the hospice provider of choice because of our reputation for impeccable customer service, friendly, knowledgeable and comforting staff, and unique delivery methods that meet the medical, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of our patients and their loved ones.
