Want to start making a difference in someone else's life? Become a Patient Support Volunteer for the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation. Our Volunteers brighten up cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support to them while they are undergoing treatment. In the infusion area, volunteers offer a snack or beverage to a patient or their guest, hand out warm blankets, share reading material, talk and listen, wipe down the infusion chairs and help to keep the area tidy. Ideal candidates may be a cancer survivor or a caregiver of someone with cancer. We would also consider a college student with an interest in oncology, nursing or medicine. Shifts are 9 am- 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 4 pm, Monday-Friday.
The Reservist is a volunteer who helps to fill in shifts when regular status volunteers are not available. This position is guaranteed at least one 3 hour shift a month, but will usually do more. They are also the first volunteers to be offered a regular shift when a regular status volunteer resigns. The candidate for this position needs to have fairly open availability to be able to cover shifts at varied times.
*All volunteers must wear a face mask and the follow vaccine policy.
