STW(tm) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water; and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.


Our volunteers are diverse professionals from all over the world bringing their knowledge and experience to STW because we care deeply about our communities and water resources. Are you passionate about writing who wants to put your skills to work for a good cause while building your resume? ? Have you had experience with writing/editing and are comfortable working independently on projects with high-level guidance? If so, keep reading.


Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is currently looking for an Associate Writer to write a minimum of one (1) research-based article per month according to Writing Guidelines. Join our global publishing team and use your writing skills to articulate to the public the tremendous issues we have regarding our limited, yet vital resource, water.


You will work directly with the top managers of Save the Water to write research-based articles for our website.

This opportunity is excellent for individuals looking to grow their resume and have an interest in education and environmental causes. Experience in writing and/or editing is preferred. Those native to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Asia, Middle-East, Australia, South America, Africa are preferred


Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within three (3) calendar days.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write a minimum of one (1) research-based article per month according to Writing Guidelines

  • Approve all article topics with Project Leader

  • Choose own topics pertaining to water contamination and/or new water technology, ensuring that the the topic is relevant with current, professional research sources.

  • Accurately cite articles and submit them on deadline

  • Maintain volunteer responsibilities and correspondence with Publishing staff

  • Attend monthly Publishing group meeting and the monthly Writer’s team meeting.

  • Complete the PWR at least on weekly minimum basis

  • Report to Project Leader for the given project team


Experience/Requirements:

  • Experience in writing and/or editing is preferred.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Journalism, Marketing, Media, English, or Business Administration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including editing

  • High attention to detail, team-oriented, resourceful, creative and enthusiastic

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.

  • Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.

  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department.
