Develop strong muscles by shoveling the snow off a grateful senior citizen’s walkways and driveway. Adopt a yard until the weather warms. Shovel after each snowfall (1 inch or more) of an elderly resident in Minneapolis & Suburban Hennepin County. Sand/salt their walkways after ice-storms. You’ll need to bring your own shovel or snow-blower but the resident will provide the warm smile. Work with a partner and you can take turns shoveling. Family teams and small groups welcome; youth must be age 7 or older and supervised by an adult. The resident will offer a thankful smile.
Exact location TBD in Minneapolis & Hennepin County Suburbs, depends upon where the senior citizen resides. One-time unpaid volunteer opportunities are also available indoors and outdoors. Please contact Jeanne the SCS - HOME Program, Volunteer Coordinator at scsvolunteer@seniorcommunity.org or call 952-767-7894 for more information.
