The Excelsior Community Food Pantry (ECFP) distributes free groceries to families in need every Saturday morning. One person serves as "Captain" each Saturday to oversee the operations. This Captain is supported by the Co-Captain, as well as many other regular volunteers.
We are currently recruiting new Co-Captains to assist the weekly Captain. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided! The Co-Captains primarily oversee the food distribution area - helping to set up the food tables, determining quantities, and monitoring those quantities through the food distribution. This might sound complicated, but it is something that can be learned fairly quickly.
The time commitment is 9 AM to 1 PM on a Saturday. We are flexible so, for example, if you can only come once a month, we can accomodate your schedule.
Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity. We recommend that you first come to observe ECFP's operations and serve as a regular volunteer, so that you can see what "Co-Captaining" entails. If you are still interested after that, we will train you. Please know that you will always be supported by a team of friendly and experienced volunteers!

Description
The Excelsior Community Food Pantry is a partnership of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (AKA Jewish Home San Francisco) and Mission Bay Community Church, in collaboration with the San Francisco - Marin Food Bank and the Excelsior community.
We distribute free groceries to Excelsior neighborhood families every Saturday, rain or shine. The timeframe for set-up, food distribution, and clean-up is 10 AM - 1 PM. Please join us any Saturday in the parking lot at Jewish Home San Francisco. Advance sign-ups are not required unless you are bringing a group of 7 or more people. If you drive, please park on the street as there is not enough parking in the Jewish Home lots to accommodate our volunteers.
