Being a caregiver is 24/7 and very exhausting, by providing a meal to the family can help ease the stress on the caregiver. Some patients still live alone and want to maintain independence for as long as possibe. Cooking is one of the areas that often suffers since they may have a lack of energy.
We need individuals or groups who enjoy cooking to help proivde meals for our patients and their families.
Caris has program called Threads of Grace, where family members gives us a couple of pieces of clothing to sew into a lap blanket or a teddy bear. We have volunteers who can teach you how to sew stuff animals.
Lap blankets and quilts are often needed because the patient gets cold easily. It lets them know there is someone out there thinking of them.
