We need your help in the kitchen!

Everyday FareStart prepares and delivers approximately 1,000 meals to local area emergency and transitional housing facilities. On the weekends and holidays our chefs rely on volunteer power to ensure that we get this important food to those in need.

We have a hands-on kitchen opportunity available to help prepare meals alongside FareStart's chefs and students. You will complete basic food preparation and learn more than you thought possible about preparing food of all sorts. Chefs will assign tasks based on individual skill and comfort level - no cooking experience necessary.

Kitchen prep volunteer opportunities take place Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants should be comfortable with handling knives and other kitchen equipment, standing on a hard surface for 5 hours, getting a little messy, and having fun. Volunteer as often as you like and lunch is provided!

We can accommodate individuals and groups up to 10 people.
Age Requirement: 18+

Mission Statement

FareStart transforms lives, disrupts poverty and nourishes communities through food, life skills and job training. FareStart is a non-profit, 501-C3 organization.

Description

WHO WE ARE

FareStart has been helping people transform their lives through food for 30 years - one person, one job and one community at a time.

People experiencing poverty struggle to escape the cycle they are in and often face other compounding barriers to getting and keeping a job. At FareStart, we help people overcome barriers by teaching work and life skills needed to succeed in employment and in life. By investing in people, providing meals and building community, we transform homelessness, hunger and poverty into human potential.
