Would you like to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon's low-income Latino families?
By providing volunteer language interpretation service just five hours a week during tax season (January 24th-April 17th) you can help provide a vital service and in turn an important step towards economic security to those most in need. You will also practice your skills, gain a meaningful new experience and become a part of a great team of like-minded people!
El Programa Hispano Católico is a non-profit organization providing quality social services to low-income Latinos in the Portland metropolitan area. Through considerable volunteer support and dedication we offer free tax preparation to the community, providing taxpayers a trustworthy, culturally-specific alternative to unlicensed tax preparers and to paying tax preparation costs they cannot afford. Last season our volunteers helped over 1,000 low-income taxpayers secure over $2 million in refunds and in saved preparation fees. This season we aim to grow our volunteer team in order to meet the increasing demand for this invaluable service and we need your help!
Previous interpreting training and experience preferred. Volunteer training occurs in January, orientations throughout November and December. Evening and weekend shifts are available. Please contact Karen Keating at (503) 489-6834 or email@example.com for more information and to schedule an orientation. We hope to hear from you soon!
