2250 Barber Greene RdDeKalb, IL 60115

Each year, hundreds of kittens from the DeKalb County community and surrounding area are found stray, abandoned or homeless. Kitten season is the time of year when cats give birth, flooding animal shelters and rescue groups across the nation with homeless litters. In 2016, Tails Humane Society took in and cared for over 500 stray kittens from April-October.

We are currently recruiting Volunteers to help us care the kittens re-entering the shelter from foster homes with their moms.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To properly clean and set up cat/kitten cages/rooms and provide proper daily requirements, including food, toys and bedding.

EXPECTATIONS: Cat Care Volunteer must be able to volunteer mornings (between 7AM-9AM or 9AM-11AM) before Tails opens to the public when the cleaning and feeding activities are completed. Currently, we are recruiting for Thursday, Friday and Sunday mornings.

Volunteers can assist in this role at Tails beginning at age 16.

Note: For safety reasons, individuals with special needs and/or who are under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by an authorized and designated parent supervisor (18 years+) who will submit their own TAILS Volunteer application, Volunteer fee and attend the Volunteer Open House, trainings and accompany the Volunteer for all Volunteer assignments/shifts.
