The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Special Olympics Montana activities are coordinated by a group of dedicated volunteers called the Area Management Team (AMT) in 12 specific regions. Each AMT is made up of volunteers who work to ensure that quality training programs and athletic competition events are available to all eligible individuals in their communities.

The Area Competition Coordinator is responsible for planning, facilitating and managing the annual regular spring competition event for teams in Helena and the surrounding area.

The person(s) responsible for coordination of the spring games competition will schedule annual spring games, book facilities, develop team of individuals to support the event, and work with both the Games Data Coordinator and the Training Coordinator to ensure athlete data is entered correctly and that all paperwork for coaches, athletes, and volunteers is up to date. Individual must have strong leadership and organizational skills, Ability to work with groups of individuals and Special Olympics Montana staff. They must also possess a desire to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities.
