Volunteers skilled at playing a musical instrument are welcome additions to our hospice interdisciplinary team. Music can improve the quality of life for our patients by providing a basis for life review and reminiscence, as a distraction from physical pain and discomfort, providing emotional comfort and relief from anxiety as well as providing an enjoyable experience. Visits can be made in the patient's home or a facility in which they live. A 14 hour Training is required for hospice volunteers. It involves a review of the hospice philosophy of care, instructions to better understand the thoughts and feelings of persons facing terminal illness and sessions on active listening and effective communication. Support meetings are held monthly with opportunities for additional training and support.

Description
Einstein Montgomery Hospice is a community centered healthcare program that provides coordinated care for individuals who are in the last phases of a terminal illness so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. It is a comprehensive program that offers supportive services in homes or care facilities to meet the varied and changing needs of the patient and family - physical, emotional, social and spiritual.
