Volunteers (ages 18+) who love books and reading are wanted to read aloud and engage young children in literacy activities at Head Start centers in Orlando, FL. This is an in-person volunteer opportunity in the classroom. Training in early literacy and read aloud best practices is provided. A volunteer interview, background check, and one hour of virtual training are required. Description
The OTTER Program was created in 2004 and has been expanded and refined over the years. By reading aloud and engaging young children in literacy activities, OTTER volunteers help children develop vocabulary, increase reading comprehension, and develop a lifelong love for reading.
