Mission Statement

The mission of Volunteers for Community Impact is to improve lives through volunteerism.

Description

The OTTER Program was created in 2004 as a VCI demonstration project and is now being refined and re-envisioned for the 2020-21 school year to include both virtual and face-to-face modalities. By reading aloud and engaging young children in literacy activities, OTTER volunteers help children develop vocabulary, increase reading comprehension, and develop a lifelong love for reading. OTTER volunteers include Foster Grandparents, RSVP, and community volunteers ages 18 and up.
