Norfolk County RSVP invites volunteers age 55+ to participate in our Elementary School Tutoring Program (grades: K-4). RSVP Volunteer Tutors assist elementary school teachers with one-on-one and small group support for young learners who need extra attention, typically in reading or math. Other volunteer activities such as arts & crafts, music, science and library support may also be available in some schools.
You don’t need to have taught previously to help. We’re looking for caring adults with a range of backgrounds, life experiences and expertise that want to help make a difference in the lives of children. Our role is to help match your interests and skills with a suitable and supportive classroom opportunity. School volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 1-1/2 hours per week through the end of the school-year. Current Norfolk County RSVP school partners include:
Braintree - Donald Ross Elementary School
Dedham - Avery,Greenlodge, Oakdale and Riverdale Elementary Schools
Needham Public Schools
Norfolk - Freeman-Kennedy Elementary School
Randolph- Donovan, Elizabeth Lyons and Martin Young Elementary Schools
Sharon - East Elementary School
Stoughton - West Elementary School
Walpole - Old Post Road Elementary School
Westwood - Martha Jones Elementary School
Weymouth - Academy Ave, Frederick Murphy, Lawrence Pingree and Ralph Talbot Elementary Schools
We typically place school volunteers at the start of the school year and midway through the year so if school volunteering sounds interesting, now would be a great time to get involved. A CORI background check and phone interview with one of the RSVP staff is required for all interested school volunteers.
