We are on the lookout for academic tutors for the 2023/2024 school year. The time to apply is now!

We have a high need for academic tutors to work our amazing scholars in our college access program. The highschoolers in our program are highly motivated and capable individuals that are looking to end the cycle of poverty in their family through a college education. We provide them with all the tools they need to be in a position to succeed, and various volunteers help to fill the intangible components of reaching this goal (tutors, mentors, job-shadowing opportunities).

We are looking for individuals to tutor in science, math and foreign languages.

The tutor’s role is to help break down assignments, provide guidance for an outline, or simply ask probing questions about the student's notes.

Sessions will take place at Aurora Central High School, Regis Jesuit High School, or online from 3:30-6:30pm, Monday- Thursday. We are looking for individuals that would be able to commit to helping for the duration of this semester on a weekly or biweekly basis.

Thank you!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to nurture and guide motivated young people in need to become well-educated, career-ready men and women for others.

Description

At BHGHCO, education is seen as the key to self-sufficiency and college is the avenue towards a career for a stable future. For over 25 years, BHGHCO has been providing a pathway to a successful future for young people who have the ambition and determination to achieve a college education and a life of service but do not have the supports to reach this goal. We believe that motivated children can overcome significant barriers and develop their inherent talents when engaged in strong relationships and opportunities for academic and character development. By opening a doorway of opportunity for these young scholars through year-round college-preparatory supports, they are able to thrive in an environment that empowers them and allows them to develop their life skills and strengths.
