Unit Assistant volunteers act as patient advocates on our General Surgical and Skilled Care floors. Their main responsibility is to conduct hourly rounding on patients while providing comfort measures and to assist staff with answering patient call lights. Additional duties may include transport and discharge of patients; transporting specimens to the Lab; taking inventory and filling supplies, cleaning of equipment and messenger runs. This opportunity provides a high level of patient interaction, and you will be trained "on-the-job" by our nurse volunteers.
Long term commitment of 1-4 hour shift per week for 8 months for a total of 128 hours is required.
Shifts available: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday mornings 9am-1pm; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday afternoons 1-5pm.
